YouTube announced the availability of the system that allows you to convert short videos in 3D format.
After an experimental phase, during which YouTube socialists tested the performances of the 3D system, the conversion became available to all YouTube users.
Thanks to the conversion tools based on complex algorithms, with a simple, YouTube provides a new type of multimedia experience, which might bring even more users to the video sharing website.
The system is capable to map the depth of each frame, studying the aspects associated with colors, movements or layout, and to produce a new video output, in 3D.
The conversion is done automatically, on YouTube servers, using a system based on the cloud that allows you to modify multiple videos at the same time.
This new feature from YouTube can’t be compared to the quality of 3D movies we see in theaters, but it is a promising step in the direction of a viable alternative for all those who want to distribute 3D content without buying expensive 3D equipment.
