The United Stats sent a second aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf to increase the pressure on Iran, as the negotiations about the Iran nuclear program will be resumed this week.
“Currently there are two U.S. aircraft carriers in the area however none are inside the Persian Gulf” John Fage, the spokesman of the U.S. Navy said.
USS Abraham-Lincoln is in the north of the Oman Sea while USS Enterprise is in the Aden Gulf.
The two aircraft carriers, accompanied by destroyers, cruisers and probably assault submarines, include a total of 80 fighter planes and helicopters.
The presence of the two aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf area suggests maximum tensions because of the Iran nuclear program.
Commander Amy Derrick-Frost said that this is for the forth time in the last decade when the United States operates two aircraft carriers in the same region.
