“Time” Magazine published the top 100 most influential people in the world list, a top that includes the names of politicians, artists, athletes, business men and members of royal families.
The top most influential people in the world list this year includes a record number of 54 personalities that are not from the United States.
From politics we see the name of Colombia’s president Juan Manuel Santos, the president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, the prime minister of Italy Mario Monti, Germany’s chancellor Angela Merkel, U.S. president Barack Obama, U.S. state secretary Hillary Clinton and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
France President Nicolas Sarkozy, who was included in the top most influential people in the world list last year does not appear in the 2012 list.
U.S. basketball player Jeremy Lin was included for the first time in the list, along with Argentina soccer player Lionel Messi and tennis player Noval Djokovic.
In the artists category we mention Adele, Viola Davis, Rihanna and British fashion designer Sarah Burton, who became famous last year after designing Kate Middleton’s wedding dress.
Kate Middleton also appears on this list, along with her sister, Pippa.
On the list of the top 100 most influential people in the world we see the names of the President of the Central European Bank, Mario Draghi, the new CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, and also the Anonymous hacking group.
This annual list, which is not a rank, is created based on the recommendations made by the readers of “Time” magazine, after a selection process that takes place for months.
