The new Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset is just the first released prepared by Nvidia for this year.
“Tegra+3” hides a more powerful processor, and the new Tegra+LTE will offer 4G LTE support for smartphones and tablets.
Mike Rayfield, the Nvidia General Manager, confirmed that the company is already working on the new chip and he says that it will be a significant upgrade and will offer improved performance.
The Nvidia roadmap also includes two processors that will be released in 2013, “Wayne” and “Gray”, but the two chipsets that bring improvements for Tegra 3 will be released in the third trimester of this year.
Until now, the Nvidia Tegra 3 platform was used on the HTC One X smartphone and Acer A510, Asus Transformer Prime and TF300 tablets. 4G LTE connectivity has been delayed on Nvidia chipsets because Qualcomm, the main rival on the mobile processors market, owns the LTE patent.
