Global Payments Security Breach: 1.5 Million Credit Cards Might Be Compromised
by

Global Payments has some security problems, problems that endanger 1,5 million Visa and Mastercard credit cards.

The company says that they are currently investigating the incident to minimize the impact of the security breach.

After Visa and Mastercard noticed the security breach and they started to notify banks, Global Payments representatives announced that only 1,5 million credit cards might be compromised.

The names, addresses and social security numbers of clients are safe, but it seeps that the security problem compromised enough data to allow illegal transactions.

Visa removed Global Payments from their list of payment processors but this incident is small compared to other similar problems. The biggest security breach in history took place in 2009, when Heartland Payment Systems was affected and more than 100 million credit cards were compromised.
