British Naomie Harris, French Berenice Marlohe and Greek Tonia Sotiropoulou, are the newest Bond Girls we are going to see in October 26 in “SkyFall“.

Now that the Bond Girl trio has been established, today we are going to provide you with some details about the new and old Bond Girls.

Always being omnipresent symbols of glamor and sophisticated style, Bond Girls have a common prototype in the real life: Muriel Wright. She was the woman Ian Fleming fell in love with in 1935. She was an independent and rich woman, an athlete and model. Beautiful and innocent, full of life, she was also a vulnerable and understanding woman who looked the other way each time Fleming cheated on her. Unfortunately,  Muriel Wright died in 1944 during a bombing. Ian Fleming was devastated.

Naomie Harris is the second African-American Bond Girl. She will play Eve in SkyFall ( 2012 ).

The Bond Girl is one of James Bond’s lovers. Most of the times the names of the girls have a double meaning and they represent a word play – Pussy Galore, Plenty O’Toole, Xenoa Onatopp or Holly Goodhead.

Ursula Andress

Ursula Andress was “Honey Ryder” in Dr. No ( 1962 ) and she was often considered the Bond Girl  “prototype”. However, she was not the first: she was the successor of Eunice Gayson as “Sylvia Trench” and “Zena Marshall” – Miss Taro ( in the same movie ).

A few attempts of creating a top 10 list of the entire franchise included some names: Anya Amasova ( Barbara Bach ), Jill Masterson, Teresa Di Vicenzo ( Diana Rigg ) and Honey Ryder – the number 1 on the list.

Some Bond Girls, after having “Affairs” with the famous 007 agent, prove to be villains: Fatima Blush ( Barbara Carrera – Never Say Never Again ), Xenia Onatopp ( Famke Jenssen  – GoldenEye ), Electra King ( Sophia Marceau – The World is Not Enough ), Miranda Frost ( Rosamund Pike  – Die Another Day ).

Still, only two woman managed to win over the heart of James Bond. The first would be Tracy Di Vicenzo ( Diana Rigg ) – she marries James Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and she was assassinated by Irma Bunt and Ernest Stavro Blofeld at the end of the movie. Which explains the scene before the credits in Diamonds Are Forever, scene in which James Bond follows Blofeld.

The second love interest of James Bond was Vesper Lynd ( Eva Green ) from Casino Royale. However Lynd proves to be a double agent.

Sylvia Trench is the only Bond Girl that appears in two consecutive James Bond movies ( Dr No and From Russian With Love ).

Five Bond Girls resumed their appearances as Bond Girl: Martine Beswick and Nadja Regin appeared for the first time in Form Russia With Love, and they later appeared in Thuunderball and Goldfinger. Maud Adams played Andrea Anders in “The Man With the Golden Gun” and Octopussy. Later, she appeared as an extra in “A View To a Kill”. Tsai Chin appears two times but in smaller roles: first as a double agent in “You Only Live Twice” and later as a poker player in Casino Royale.

Diane Hartford also appeared in supporting roles: in Thunderball and in Casino Royale.
