Mitt Romney won the Republican primary elections in Illinois, according to the predictions made by many press agencies.
CNN and Fox News announced that Mitt Romney won in Illinois, the 12th state or territory out of the 32 who already expressed their options for the November presidential elections.
However Mitt Romney has not managed to record a net victory so far in front his main opponent, Rick Santorum.
His recent victory will surely help power his campaign, after the failure recorded one week ago in the South, Alabama and Mississippi being won by his rival. Romney finished third in these two states, being “beaten” by Newt Gingrich.
To get a nomination from the Republican party, during the convention that will take place at the end of August, in Tampa, Florida, a candidate has to raise 1.144 delegates in each state. Before Illinois, Romney had 516 delegates, Rick Santorum had 236, Newt Gingrich had 141 and Ron Paul 66 according to RealClearPolitics.
