Quad core became the new high-tech standard for smartphones and tablets, and manufacturers were in a hurry to present competitive smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2012.

Nvidia and it’s Tegra 3 processor are present on most top quad core smartphones but they do not own the monopole.

For those of you who plan on buying a quad core smartphone this year, HotOnline presents you with the best quad core smartphones in 2012.

1. HTC One X

The new HTC smartphone with Nvidia Tegra 3 at 1.5 GHZ was one of the most appreciated smartphones at MWC 2012, also because of the 720p 4,7 inch screen.

HTC One X runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and ships with the new HTC Sense 4 interface. The quad core smartphone from HTC includes a 8 MP photo camera, 32 Gb storage space and NFC technology.

Along with the quad core processor, HTC also improved the speed of the photo camera: it opens in 0,7 seconds and for auto focus you need only 0.2 seconds.

Also, it can take photos while recording videos.

2. LG Optimus 4X HD

With the same quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, LG Optimus 4X HD has a screen just as big as the HTC One X: IPS of 4.7 inch, with 1280 x 720 resolution.

The new quad core smartphone from LG has a thickness of only 8,9 mm and includes 1 GB of RAM memory along with 16 GB of storage space.

LG Optimus 4X HD comes with two photo cameras: a 8 MP camera on the back and a 1.3 MP frontal camera.

The 2150 mAh battery is enough because of the “companion core” from the Tegra 3 processor.

3. Huawei Ascend D Quad

Huawei is the only manufacturer that “dared” to present a quad core smartphone without the Tegra 3 chipset.

The new Ascend D Quad uses a quad core Huawei K3V2 processor at 1.5 GHZ and Huawei says that this is the fastest smartphone in the world.

Comparisons with the iPhone 4S and Galaxy Nexus proved the power of the processor of this quad core smartphone.

The Huawei smartphone has a 4.5 inch touchscreen at 720p resolution, 8 MP photo camera and a frontal 1.3 MP camera.

4. ZTE Era

ZTE Era is another quad core smartphone that was presented during MWC 2012, a smartphone that comes with Tegra 3 at 1.3 GHZ. The phone has HSPA+ connectivity but it does not support LTE.

ZTE Era ships with a 4.3 qHD screen, along with 1  GB RAM memory and 16 Gb storage space.

The phone runs on Android 4.0 ICS along with a special interface, ZTE Mifavor that is pretty similar to the standard Android 4.0 ICS interface.

5. Fujitsu quad-core

Even if they presented a nameless prototype at MWC 2012, Fujitsu is planning to release this Tegra 3 + Android smartphone by the end of this year.

The design might be changed until it is released, but this matters less, compared to the multitude of options Fujitsu will include in this smartphone.

6. Samsung Galaxy S3

The new Samsung flagship, Galaxy S3, will come with the Exynos processor, which is a 1.5 GHZ quad core processor.

The smartphone will include two cameras: 8 MP main camera and a secondary 2 MP camera.

The operating system will be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and it will have 4G LTE abilities.
