Two weeks after the release of Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Microsoft detailed the improvements made on the web browser of the new operating system: Metro Internet Explorer 10.

Internet Explorer 10 is available in Windows 8 in two versions: desktop, in which the browser is pretty similar to Internet Explorer 9 and Metro Internet Explorer, created for touchscreens.

Microsoft introduced special gestures for Metro internet Explorer 10 and a new design, suitable for tablets and smartphones. In Windows 8 you will be able to create Live Tiles on Metro Start Screen for different websites.

Internet Explorer 10 also includes a sandbox available through the “Enhanced Protected Mode” option, that offers a better security.

The protection method mostly targets Metro IE 10 that does not use plugins. The desktop version will disable the protection when a website that requires a plugin is opened.
