During Xbox Spring Showcase, an event organized by Microsoft in San Francisco, Valve confirmed the release date of Counter Strike: Global Offensive, the game through which Valve hopes to regain some positions on the shooters market.

So, the final Counter Strike: Global Offensive version is expected to arrive this summer, as the game is in testing phase for quite some time now.

New screenshots of the Counter Strike: Global Offensive game were also released, which you can view below in this article.

Unfortunately, Valve removed one of the advantages of the Counter Strike: Global Offensive game, the possibility of playing crossplatform between a PC and Playstation 3.

According to Valve, beta testing proved that the game will need frequent updates, even after the release of the final version. And since this can be complicated, they decided not to include this feature.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive game is developed in partnership with Hidden Path Entertainment, the same team that also worked on support for Counter Strike: Source, and will try to bring the classic Counter Strike experience to a new generation of players.

So, besides the Steam version ( PC and Mac ), Counter Strike: Global Offensive will be released for Xbox 360 ( Xbox Live ) and Playstation 3 ( Playstation Network ).

Counter Strike: Global Offensive promises to be delivered with even maps ( two for Hostage Rescue, five for Bomb / Defuse ), redesigned versions of the classic Counter Strike 1.6 or Counter Strike: Source versions. Global Offensive will be based on the newest version of the Source graphics engine ( Half Life 2, Portal 2 ).
