The newest issue of GameInformer magaznie was released, along with the long awaited details about the next Assassin’s Creed III game. Also, the first screenshots of the game were also released along with some artworks.
According to GameInformer, Ubisoft wants Assassin’s Creed III to be accessible for new Assassin’s Creed gamers, while they continue to keep references to the old Assassin’s Creed versions of the game, so familiar to hardcore gamers.
The new hero will be the son of a British pilgrim and a woman from the Mohawk tribe. His Indian name is Ratohnkake’ton, whoever the hero will present himself as Connor over the course of the game.
Ubisoft also released the first official Assassin’s Creed III trailer, which you can view below. It was also confirmed the fact that Assassin’s Creed III will be released world wide on October 31, 2012, for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC, and a Nintendo Wii version is also in the works.
It seems that in Assassin’s Creed 3 we get the opportunity to live some of Connor’s childhood, as well as the conflict between the pilgrims and the Mohawk tribe. The reproduction of some battles is not going to be a problem for the Assassin’s Creed 3 graphics engine, which was completely rebuilt for this game.
The action of the game will take place during the Independence War that caused the appearance of the United States of America ( 1753 – 1783 ). And this time we are going to get more regions to explore: Boston, New York, and The Frontier, a game environment that promises to be 1,5 times bigger than Rome in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. Ubisoft says that almost one third of the game will take place in The Frontier, and the gameplay was adapted for this purpose.
The possibility of climbing trees and rocks were introduced, as well as new animations for the main character, especially created for Connor and not borrowed from the older versions of the game. Also, as you can see in the screenshots, The Frontier will be populated by wild animals, and Connor has the possibility of hunting them. The economic system introduced in Assassin’s Creed II will be kept, however it will be modified a lot. For example, Connor will be able to sell the skin of the animals he hunts.
Regarding the Assassin’s Creed 3 battles, they will be changed a lot: a new combat system will be used, focused on offensive and movement speed, the possibility of target lock on the enemy will be removed and the game will use a dynamic camera that will automatically focus on the game’s important moments. Regarding weapons, Connor will keep the hidden blade, but he will also use a tomahawk, a knife, a bow and arrows, or a pistol.
Time will also have visible effects on the gaming environment. Human establishments can disappear after batles, and the entire map will be affected by the passing of the years and seasons. During the winter, the snow portions of the map will be harder to cover, and lakes will freeze, thus creating inaccessible routes.
Just like previous Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed 3 will reproduce important historic moments, like the troops of George Washington in Valley Force or the big New York fire in 1871. Connor will have a close relationship with Washington, and other important historic figures like Benjamin Franklin will also make an appearance. British and French soldiers will also be included.
The tower defense missions from Assassin’s Creed: Revelations were removed, as well as the first person puzzle levels. In return, Desmond will have playable portions, and interaction with Connor will take place with the help of a new interface named Animus 3.0. Also, closed levels, action adventure and platforming classic will be included and there will be many of them.
There will be new factions with whom you can form alliances, however no additional information have been offered about them. Just like Ezio Auditore, Connor will have the option of recruiting new assassins.
Ubisoft will also implement a notoriety system which will not make you be less free in the game. Actually, because of the bigger gaming environment, the focus will be more on exploring, and the player can also use the fast travel option to travel from one location to another.
No less than 2,5 hours of dialogues and cinema scenes were created for Assassin’s Creed III, Ubisoft also using Indian actors to increase the authenticity of the game. The third Assassin’s Creed game has been under development for the last three years, in parallel with the latest games of the franchise.
Assassin’s Creed 3 game will be released on October 31, 2012 for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
