The River TV Show: A Horror TV Show With A Big Budget

  • Sharebar

“The River” TV Show made it’s debut on TV this week, one of the few high budget TV shows aired by an important TV network. The River, created by Oren Peli, the man behind “Paranormal Activity“. Do not be surprised if you notice that The River has many common elements with the franchise that grossed millions of dollars for Paramount. This new TV show is already labeled as being a combination between “Paranormal Activity” and “Lost”.

Get ready to return to a luxuriant subtropical vegetation because “The River” takes you to the Amazon jungle. This is where the popular explorer and tv show host Emmet Cole ( Bruce Greenwood ) disappeared almost six months ago. A few days after his family loses every hope that Emmet is alive, a tracking device gets activated on Cole’s frequency and his wife, Tess, convinces her son, Lincoln, to embark in a rescue mission.

The two are convinced by the former producer of Cole’s show to film the entire mission. With many cameras, the crew goes deep into the jungle, also accompanied by Clark’s former mechanic, his daughter, Jagel, but also a bodyguard, Captain Kurt Brynildson.

The fact that one of the executive producer of “The River” Tv show is Steven Spielberg, resulted in a high promotion, but we are going to tell you that if you liked Paranormal Activity, there are chances that you will like this new tv show too, especially since the show doesn’t seem to be very long: the horror genre is not very popular in America, so the producers only created a first season of 8 episodes, to see if it catches on.

The fans of the horror genre will have many reasons to be scared over the 45 minutes of the episodes, because the mysteries of the Amazon are there and they ask for sacrifices.  And the similarities with Lost are easy to be made for two reasons: it is suggested that the land of the Amazon has it’s own laws and it quickly becomes obvious that some members of the expedition have their own agenda and, furthermore, they have additional information about the extreme events that are going on in the area.

Danger can come from anywhere: from the river, from the vegetation.  So stay tuned for a lot of adventure!
