Army Corps Of Hell is a hybrid action strategy game and one of the launch titles of the PlayStation Vita. The game has a unique combination of both the genres and is presented by a complete metal soundtrack. The concept on books sound really great, however, when you actually sit down to play the game, you immediately realize that there is something missing. There is a lot of repetitiveness in the game, you will be fighting the same kind of foes and most levels are almost the same too. I got my hands on the game and would like to share the experience with you through this review.
The story of the game is quite simple and linear. You are the ruler of hell who has been brought down and now you must fight your way through your foes to earn your seat back in the kingdom. During your quest, you will face hordes of enemies and bosses throughout. If you have played the overlord series you might immediately realize some similarities. In Army Corps Of Hell, you have command of little goblins that do your bidding and these are divided.
The goblins are available to you in three different types. You get to command spearmen, soldiers and magi. As the name suggests, the soldiers are the main fighters, while the spearmen maintain distance to attack and the magi help you attack targets that are thick in armor. A little strategy is always required in Army Corps Of Hell since you can form different formations with your goblins to increase attack and change the outcome.
As you progress through the game, a lot of loot will be offered to you after defeating your enemies. You can use alchemy to create items too and as you progress your skill becomes stronger. Your goblins also progress and they can be upgraded with more powerful attacks and defense. Your magi goblins gain new magic based weapons to increase in power and magic variants. There is a lot in the game; however the only disappointment is that it tends to get a bit too repetitive in the later stages.
