The new Xbox version might come with a integrated digital video recorder, if the last patent filed by Microsoft at the end of last year will be used for this purpose.
We are talking about a patent filed by Microsoft on December 27, 2010, about a device that can also be a gaming console as well as a digital video recorder.
In the documentation, Microsoft wants a patent for the DVR technology which allows users to “record multimedia content like movies, tv shows, music and others, during the game or even when the console is shutdown”.
According to a source, this last Microsoft patent strengthens the belief that Microsoft wants to turn the Xbox into a complicated multimedia tool, as the xbox will also be integrated with services like YouTube or pay-tv services, like Mediaset Premium.
Under this context, recording and memorizing specific content would be a logical step, but also a signal that announces the change of the classic gaming console concept.
