The Mafia, Italy’s Biggest Investment Bank

The financial crisis caused the Mafia to bloom and to become one of Italy’s biggest investment bank, because of the 65 billion euro cash flow the Mafia has.

The Mafia’s assets which includes Cosa Nostra ( Sicily ), Camorra, and ‘Ndragheta – comes up to 140 billion euro each year.

“Right now the “Mafia Company” is the only entrepreneurial group who can make investments” Confesercenti president, Marco Venturi said.

He commented the SOS Impresa report – a reflection center that offers business consultancy services – according to which the Mafia’s involvement in the commercial sector raises up to 100 billion euros.

For many Italian businesses, who are dealing with a decrease in sales because of the crisis, collaborating with organized crime can make the difference.

The report also warns that Mafia groups are expanding it’s activities from the poor South to the Industrialized North.
