Japan decided to shutdown nuclear reactors older than 40 years. The decision has been made after the March 2011 devastating earthquake and tsunami who devastated the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Japan’s worry about the age of the nuclear plants is growing. Most of them are old, built at the same time with the Fukushima nuclear reactors. Some of the plants and reactors that will be closed are Tsuruga and Mih-Ama. They are located in the center of the country and they were built in 1970.

Japan has 54 nuclear reactors and they will be 40 years old very soon. Japan’s Government announced on Friday that they will pass a law obligating plants to shutdown their activity.
