The Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) is working on the development of a application that allows real time monitoring of everything that happens on social networks, starting with Facebook and Twitter.
FBI’s intentions were revealed after the bureau announced that they are searching for a IT company to develop this social media application.
Information services rarely publish information about the way they interact with social networks and the online environment in the information collection process.
The FBI is searching for a application to facilitate the identification of threats against national security and to be able to analyze social networks, monitoring Facebook and Twitter as well as comments published on news websites.
The U.S. authorities were criticized by activists who support the right to privacy, but the authorities responded that the information is free on the Internet so analyzing it it’s not a violation of any rights.
