A device like the Apple MacBook Air can only be attractive. So we thought that a review of the most successful and popular ultrabook on the market might help you decide if you plan on buying one. And you might have a hard time deciding as at CES 2012 we have seen a real avalanche of ultrabooks that plan to compete with the MacBook Air 2011.

Design and Construction Review

At first glance you might be tempted to say it doesn’t matter what hides under the hood built out of aluminum of such a ultrabook like the MacBook Air 2011. And, indeed, the design is truly exceptional and we might even say that it is a design that nobody managed to match so far.

The display is so thin that you might be afraid not to break it if you open the Macbook. However you will soon notice that the display is pretty robust and the hinges are as rigid as they should be.

Obviously that the Apple logo dominates on the front of the case which ignites once the ultrabook is powered. On the superior side of the screen, on the edge, you can find the web camera.

Keyboard Review

The black keyboard of the MacBook Air 2011 is the only element that “breaks” the silver of the device. But it does so in a very elegant way. The keys were placed so that they can be comfortable. And indeed, it’s a real pleasure to type on a MacBook Air 2011 notebook.

But let’s not forget about the back illumination of the keyboard which helps you work even if the room is very dark.

TrackPad Review

The Trackpad of the MacBook Air 2011 is however one of the best things about this laptop. The advanced functionality offers a excellent experience, and makes the mouse useless. To better understand what we are talking about, the experience of the Macbook trackpad is similar to that offered by the touchscreen of the iPhone.

Hardware Review

Well, MacBook Air 2011 is a ultrabook. In other words, it has no optical drive. Regarding connectivity, MacBook Air 2011 comes with two USB ports and a Thunderbolt, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack plus a microphone.

The Apple MacBook Air 2011 comes with a Intel Core i5 2467M processor at 1.6 GHZ, 2 GB of RAM memory and a graphic solution from Intel, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 – 288 MB shared.

In Novebech tests the MacBook Air 2011 got a 479 score and obviously the biggest score is given by the Intel I5 processor.

Graphics Review

It’s understandable that the graphic specifications affects the score. Still, we got some pleasant surprises. Precisely, we installed the demo of the Bioshock game and we had the surprise of being able to run it using the maximum graphic details.

Sound Review

Apple decided to install the MacBook Air speakers on the lateral sides of the device and the sound is basically projected through the keyboard. The quality is excellent for a ultrabook.

Software Review

We are not going to talk much about software. Mac OS X Lion is already a known  version of the Apple made OS. If you migrate from Windows to OS X Lion you will have some small problems in adjusting. But the system comes with tutorials which will help you with everything you need.

Autonomy Review

From a autonomy point of view The Apple MacBook Air 2011 behaves great. With the Wi-Fi turned on the Ultrabook provided around 5 hours of autonomy.

Rating: 4.5
