The death of former Libya leader, Muammar Gaddafi, might be a crime of war, the prosecutor of the International Penal Court said in New York on Thursday.

“We expressed our worries” to the Libya Transition Council and we asked how the crimes committed by the two camps will be trialed.

“The death of Muammar Gaddafi must be clarified because there are suspicions that this was a war crime” Moreno Ocampo told the media.

Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was killed on October 20 in Sirta under unclear circumstances by the Libya rebels after he was captured.

Because of his death, the International Penal Court closed the Gaddafi case on November 22, a case that resulted in an arrest warrant for crimes against humanity.

Luis Moreno Ocampo said that the Libya authorities will inform the Court in January 10 regarding a possible transfer to Hague of one of Gaddafi’s son, Seif Al-Islam, arrested last month.

tea fostului lider libian Muammar Kadhafi ar putea constitui o crimă de război, a apreciat joi, la New York, procurorul Curţii Penale Internaţionale (CPI) Luis Moreno Ocampo.
