Iran will reproduce the RQ-170 U.S. drone they claim to have taken down last week with the purpose of equipping their armed forces with this model, a Iran official said on Monday.
“We are about to decrypt the code of the drone and the next step is to reproduce it” Parviz Sorouri said.
“In a near future we will be capable to produce it on a large scale” he also added, adding that the Iranian version of the drone will be superior to the American version they captured.
Sorouri also said that Iran will get access to important information about the United States espionage techniques once they managed to decrypt the codes.
“I can’t say when this will happen but we are on the right path” he added.
Iran announced that their captured the RQ-170 Sentinel drone on December 14.
The Iran National tv network aired images of the drone. According to the U.S. media, the drone was captured while on a mission to analyze the Iran nuclear installations, a mission coordinated by the CIA.
