Etta James Diagnosed With Terminal Leukemia

United States singer Etta James, famous for hits like “At Last” was diagnosed with terminal leukemia two weeks ago.

Doctor Elaine James told “Riverside Press Enterprise” that Etta James’ disease was declared incurable two weeks ago.

Etta James had obesity problems in the past and in 2003 and received a gastric bypass surgery.

Also, in January of this year Etta James was diagnosed with dementia and she started leukemia treatment.

The last time Etta James was on stage was at the beginning of 2012.

Etta James, who’s real name is Jamesetta Hawkings, is a American jazz, blues and R&B singer born in Los Angeles on January 25 1938. Over her impressive career, Etta James was rewarded with four Grammy awards and 17 Blues Music Awards. She was included in the Rock & Roll hall of fame in 1993, in Blues Hall of Fame in 2001 and two times in Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and 2008.

Etta’s most famous song is “At Least” released in 1961 and used many times since then as soundtracks of some movies, radio or tv ads.

In the “Cadillac Records” movie, Etta James is portrayed by Beyonce Knowles.
