A state of the art U.S. drone operated by he CIA was “captured” by Iran at the beginning of December, and the Teheran regime found reasons to brag. How the sophisticated device was however captured ? A aviation websites claims that Iran used Russian technology.
Russia allegedly sold Iran the technology the Islamic regime used to intercept and take down the RQ-170 Sentinel drone, operated by the CIA, that was flying over Iran.
The drone, that benefits from state of the art espionage and stealth technology was captured by Iran, and they were in a hurry to show the world images with what they say is the drone in question.
The technology AviationIntel.com refers to is named Avtobaza and it played the role of detecting the drone and jamming communication. The radar was delivered in Iran in October, according to Russia Today.
Russia and China officials asked Iran for permission to inspect the captured drone, the media reports.
The opinions of U.S. experts and officials are however divided. While many are saying that the drone captured by Iran is actually the RQ-170 Sentinel drone, others say that this is a scam. The drone wouldn’t have remained intact if hijacked and obligated to land.
The drone’s abilities are however only partially known. U.S. officials keep them a secret. The price of the drone manufactured by Lockheed Martin is 6 million dollars. The drone was initially launched in Afghanistan and it was nicknamed “The Kandahar Beast“.
