After 100 Years Since The Tragedy The Titanic Is Being Auctioned

More than 5,500 objects recovered from the Titanic wreck are to be auctioned on April 12, 2012, In New York, 100 years after the famous tragedy. People will be able to buy different items that were recovered from the Titanic, from china to pieces of the Titanic ship recovered from the ocean.

RMS Titanic, the only one who has rights over these objects announced that they asked the Guernesey’s auction house to hold this auction.

The total value of the auctioned items is 189 million dollars, and the organizers of the auction hope to find a single buyer for all of the items. The objects were recovered from the Titanic wreck in 2007.

The Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, two and a half hours after the ship crashed into a iceberg during it’s first trip over the Atlantic. More than 1,500 people lost their lives.

The RMS TItanic ( Royal Mail Steamer ) was the second supership built alongside RMS Olympic and HMHS Britannic, designed to provide a trip each week and to dominate the transatlantic business between Southampton and New York, in the interest of the White Star Line company.

Built by Harland and Wolf in Belfast, Titanic was the biggest ship in the world until the moment it sank.

During it’s inaugural trip ( Southhampton, England then Cherbourg, France, Queenstown Ireland, with destination New York ), the Titanic crashed into a iceberg on April 15. The boat sank two and a half hours later and it broke in two pieces.
