100 Years Old Doctor Still Makes House Calls

What do you think motivates a doctor from Cincinnati to continue to make house calls even though he is 100 years old ? ” I must!” Doctor Fred Goldman says, “that’s where my patients are” he says.

At the beginning of December, on the 12nd, the patients, friends and family of the doctor all gathered in his office to organize a surprise party. But they were the ones who were surprised because the Ohio’s oldest licensed doctor arrived at the office 90 minutes earlier. ” I almost had a heart attack when I have seen so many people in the waiting room” Goldman jokes, who also asked the people there about their health condition.

” People ask me why I come to a 100 years old doctor” Patty Levine says. ” I tell them that Goldman had time to see and know them all!”

One of Goldman’s colleagues, Doctor Leo Wayne, 85 years old, remembers that in 2007 Goldman made a proposal to come work for him, because at 96 years old he decided to only work three days per week. ” I refused, told him that i’m too young” Dr. Wayne says, even through he also decided to retire in 2007. And the nurse of the 100 years old doctor says that the doc sees, on average, 12 patients per day. She also said that after working for Goldman for one year she felt the need of sleeping on a beach her entire vacation while Fred Goldman was hiking in Alaska and slept in tents.

Goldman says that he doesn’t smoke cigarettes, he smokes the pipe however but only rarely – he also drinks rarely and he is always active. He survived a open heart surgery and prostate cancer because he had good doctors, he says.
