New tensions emerged between Islamabad and NATO, after some Pakistani soldiers were killed during a NATO attack.
Pakistani officials accused NATO helicopters of attacking a military outpost near the Pakistan – Afghanistan border, and 25 Pakistani soldiers were killed during this attack. A previous report only indicated 8 dead.
Pakistan reacted promptly. They closed the border for NATO shipments who supplies Afghanistan international troops. Trucks are stopped in the Jamrud region, close to Peshawar, according to local officials and media.
A Army rep said that the attack took place in the tribal region of Mohmand. NATO admitted that a incident took place close to the border and that a investigation has been started.
The Pakistani army said that this was a “unprovoked” attack.
Th alleged attack took place at Salala, 2,5 km from the Afghanistan border, around 2:00 local hours.
Some tensions have started to emerge lately between Pakistan and the United States, Washington suspecting Pakistan of helping the Taliban.
