Singer Shakira is the first Colombian artist to receive a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. The ceremony took place yesterday, in the presence of the media and many fans.
“I would like to dedicate this distinction to the Latin community in the United States of America, a community who works, dreams and dreams and works non stop, each day to make this country better” Shakira said.
Shakira should have received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame since 2009, but she refused this award at that time saying that she doesn’t want to be considered a Hollywood celebrity.
Shakira is the best selling Colombian artist in the history of music. According to Sony Music Entertainment, the 34 years old singer sold 60 million albums world wide.
