Doom 3 Game Source Code Became Public

doom 3Like he promised many months ago, John Carmack from ID Software announced the release of the Doom 3 source code. Those who want to see how the code looks like or even develop other applications based on this code can do so from now on.

Developers will now be able to use this source code to develop other games based on the Doom 3 graphic engine, a game that although is more than 7 years old still manages to amaze us with it’s video effects. Actually, you have to know that this source that that just became open source was also used on creating other games that are very appreciated by gamers.

We are talking about Quake 3, Prey, Enemy Territory, Quake wars, Wolfenstein and Brink. Each developer significantly modified the Doom 3 source code to get the results most of you know if you played one of the games listed above.
