Hugo Chavez was operated on June 20 in Havana to have a malignant tumor in his pelvic area removed. He then followed many chemotherapy sessions.
Venezuela president Hugo Chavez announced he is cured of cancer after a check-up in Cuba and four chemotherapy sessions.
“Everything went perfect. ” Chavez said.
Earlier, Chavez described his treatment as successful.
However the secret that surrounds his disease fueled speculations. A former surgeon of Chavez said that considering available information Hugo Chavez only has around 2 more years to live.
“Considering the information from his family Chavez has a tumor around his pelvis area which makes chemotherapy so aggressive” the surgeon told Milenio Semanal.
Hugo Chavez, 57 years old, is in charge of Venezuela’s affairs since 1999. He wants to be reelected in 2012 for a third term and provides assurances that his health condition is good.
