Lokomotiv Iaroslab ice hockey team was in a plane who crashed during takeoff in the Iaroslav region. 44 people lost their lives and there is only one survivor.
A Yakovlev 42 plane carrying the Lokomotiv Iaroslav ice hockey team crashed on Wednesday close to the Iaroslav airport, causing the death of 44 people.
“According to the details we have the plane was carrying 45 people, 37 passengers and 8 crew members. 44 people were killed in this plane crash and there is one survivor” a police source said.
“The Yak-42 plane crashed two km from the Tulocina airport in Iaroslav” the source also said.
The Lokomotiv Iaroslav team plays in the Kontinental Hockey League, a competition that reunites 20 teams from Russia .
Lokomotiv Iaroslav, a club founded in 1949, won the Russia championship three times.
