The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy is, along with the Pearl Harbour attack and the September 11, 2011, live moments in the memory of all Americans. A few audio recordings of the First Lady reopens the investigation.
Dallas, November 22, 1963
America lived this drama live on TV. At 11:50 hours, the official presidential convoy containing 5 vehicles accompanying John Fitzgerald Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline Bouvier, during their visit in Dallas, was heading towards the center of the city. As the weather was worm and the president wanted to have contact with the people he asked for the hood of the limo to be retracted. Kennedy, dressed in a gray suit, was sitting in the right of the backseat and Jackie, wearing a pink Chanel outfit was sitting in the left. The presidential convoy was advancing slowly while President Kennedy was greeting the crowd.
Suddenly, when the presidential vehicle took a turn on Elm Street, Kennedy screamed and put his hands on his throat. John Connoly, the Governor of Texas, who was sitting on the front seat was also hit by a bullet. Immediately, the limo driver pressed the acceleration and took a turn to the Parkland Memorial Hospital while the First Lady was holding her husband in her arms trying to stop the bleeding.
Arrived at the hospital, Kennedy was taken over by the E.R. wing, where he received medical care. Useless medical care because at 13:00 hours America was already in mourning as the death of the President was pronounced.
As everything was televised, the entire country witnessed the Kennedy assassination. In the afternoon of that day, schools closed and the students were sent home, and 54% of Americans stopped their usual activity. 98 minutes after the assassination, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson became the 36th president of the United States, with Kennedy’s widow and Judge Sarah T. Hugnes as witnesses.
At the same time, after the Dallas police received a phone tip, Lee Harvey Oswald, temporary employee at a warehouse, was arrested and accused of he assassination. Investigation showed that he was the shooter and that he was a former marine, and a former CIA asset.
After two days of interrogation, Oswald was taken out of the police headquarters and transported to the court. He was then shot by Jack Ruby, a Chicago nightclub owner.
Was Jack Ruby being patriotic ? Was he a vigilante ? Or was he only a man that covered up everything ? Because later everything became a conspiracy, and the Warren committee, entrusted with the investigation of the case, said one year later that Oswald was acting alone. But he was just a pawn taken out of the game and the testimonies and evidence were stored in the state archives and they are to remain classified until 2039.
48 years after the assassination the mystery has not been solved, but more and more recordings and statements are starting to surface. Some of them are really explosive and they are made by the First Lady, Jackie Kennedy. The one who decided to break the silence is her daughter, Caroline, who announced that she will release a few audio recordings in which her mother talks about the life at the White House and about the last days of John F. Kennedy.
It seems that a few months after the assassination, when she was already involved in a relationship with Aristotel Onassis, Jackie revealed some of the White House secrets to historian Arthmur M. Schlesinger, and their talks were recorded, resulting in 8 hours and a half of audio recordings group in seven interviews. She believed that Lyndon B. Johnson, the man who became president after the JFK assassination, was the one who ordered the assassination. Jackie asked her daughter to keep these recordings secret for 50 years after her death.
But this year, 50 years after her father, John Kennedy, became President of the United States, Caroline Kennedy prepared a book based on these interviews and she also decided to publish the audio recordings.
” My mother took her obligation to keep these documents that illustrates the administration of my father very seriously, and these interviews are the result of this” Caroline Kennedy said. The audio recordings will be aired by ABC in September, and the recordings will be sold along with the “Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations On Life With John F. Kennedy” Book.
One of the most influential families of the United States Politics, the Kennedy family, was the source of many scandals but they were also followed by many tragedies.
Started by Joseph Patrick Kennedy, US Ambassador in the United Kingdom during 1934 0 1940, the Kennedy dynasty was decimated in less than 40 years by assassinations, air crashes and incurable diseases.
One by one, most Kennedy members had a harsh destiny: the first child of the family, Joseph Patric Jr died during the second world war, then the oldest daughter of the Ambassador, Rose Marie, was born with a mental handicap and her sister, Kathleen, died with her boyfriend in a plane crash.
In 1963, Patrick, the third child of Jackie and John Kennedy died two days after birth and John was killed that same year.
Prosecutor Robert Kennedy, John’s brother, had the same fate, as he was shot to death, and the tragedy continued with the president’s children: Caroline gave birth to two dead children and John Jr died because of a mysterious plane crash. Other two nephews of Joseph Kennedy died tragically: David died because of a drug overdose and Michael during a skiing acciddent.
In his final years, the youngest Kennedy brother, Senator Edward Kennedy, fought a battle with brain cancer while his sisters, PAtricia and Eunice died because of pneumonia. Another Kennedy member, Maria Shriver, is now going through an awful divorce.
Occult followers said that the Kennedy tragedies are because of a curse set by a Rabi as revenge for the fact that Joseph Patrick refused to help some Jews in Europe escape the Nazis during the second world war. Truth or not, what is certain is that the Kennedy name is influenced the United States politics a lot during this last century.
