King Abdullah announced that women will receive the right to vote. They will be able to run for office and vote at the municipal elections, but this will only happen starting with 2015.
Even so, this is a huge step forward considering that in this country women don’t even have the right of driving vehicles.
Actually, the first municipal elections took place in Saudi Arabia only in 2005.
Saudi Arabia is a country that was spread by the social problems that were present in other Arabic countries. Still, women stood tall and they asked for more rights and freedoms.
