Google made another move on the acquisitions market. They announced the takeover of Zagat, one of the best pocket guides companies, making restaurant recommendations in more than 100 cities in the United States.

Google’s strategy seems to focus from indexing information to owning them, and the purchase of Zagat proves this. Zagat, a company founded in 1979, will help Google improve services like Google Search and Google Maps.

“Zagat represented mobility even before the mobility offered by technology” Google said. Google, Zagat means much more than that. The Google portfolio won a great brand.

Zagat was first made available by it’s founders in 2008, but nobody was interested in the company at that time. The Zagat founders, Nina and Tim Zagat will remain active in the company.
